THAT SPECIAL ONE, a New Adult Romantic Suspense ~ cover reveal

TSO Cover 2

Revealing the cover of THAT SPECIAL ONE, a Christian New Adult Romantic Suspense.

College freshman Ivy Chalmers moved in with her aunt and uncle in Arroyo, Texas. She needed to get away from her alcoholic and weed smoking mother.  Ivy longed for a different life than the cycle of revolving-door-men in her mom’s life. Making a one-eighty, she vowed not to make a serious dating commitment unless she knew it would be that really ‘special relationship ‘.

Corey Jones had been the man in his house since age twelve, when his alcoholic dad abandoned him and his mom. Once in a while, his dad showed up trying to extort money from them using threats. Then his blue-haired, self-centered cousin Ava came to live with them and the way she treats his mom enrages him.

Ivy is thrilled when she meets an upper classman from a neighboring college and thinks he might be ‘that guy.’ When she is horribly betrayed, her world is thrown upside-down, and she plunges into a depression.  In a steady and kind of clumsy way, Corey is there for her during her worst moments. But his family is plagued with alcoholism, the life she had with her mom, the life she ran away from. What’s wrong with her that she attracts the wrong guys? As if that weren’t bad enough, there’s an arsonist terrorizing their tiny village.

Will release as an ebook on Amazon in early September.

Trump’s First Reaction To Charlottesville ~ spot on as Alt-Right & Alt-Left make USA their battleground

Trump

President Donald J. Trump’s initial reaction and speech was spot on. What happened was the Alt-Right and the Alt-Left, both armed to the teeth, met in Charlottesville and rumbled over a local issue. AntiFa was there too, not just white supremacists. Both were armed and it’s still unclear which side started the violence. The police should’ve been the adults in the room, but appeared to stand down. When Trump spoke, he could not have had complete info. We still don’t know exactly what and why. We have yet to hear who the individuals were on the Alt-Right and Alt-left who planned and financed these groups that weekend.

The Alt-Right and Alt-Left have been battling for years and now they are tearing this country apart. Most Americans of all races, nationalities, ethnicities, and religions have political views that are not extreme, though half fall right of center and half fall left of center center. Time for the adults in the room to regain control of the political process.

The Insanity In Charlottesville, VA ~ LOVE is the only Christian response.

Love Is

Violence and hate erupted in Charlottesville this weekend. This type of bigotry and viscous enmity is evil at its core. Christians must stand against this type ugliness wherever it appears. If it comes from the KKK, white supremacist and white nationalist groups, ISIS and radical Islamic terror, North Korea, Venezuela, the Castro regime and other despots, or students who don’t allow others to speak and destroy their own campuses. Christians must stand against all types of hate and violence. That said, we are called to love by the Master Himself. We are to love with the God type of love in all circumstances.

Matthew 5:45-47 [NASB] ~ 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

By all accounts, the white nationalists gathered Saturday in Charlottesville for a “Unite the Right” protest came filled with racial hate and were armed and ready to rumble. There is nothing good, or commendable in this. In fact, it ended horrifically with one death. Those who broke the law should be prosecuted according to their crime to the full extent of the law. Render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. And yet, in every circumstance Christians must look to Jesus and point to Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:15 [NASB] ~ 15 See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people.

The type of love that can heal this situation and can heal our nation is the God kind of love. Christians must lead the way with love and by lifting Jesus up.

Matthew 11: 28-30 [NASB] ~ 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is ]easy and My burden is light.”

Galatians 3:28 [NASB] ~ 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Pray For Our POTUS, Our Nation ~ in this time of North Korean threat

hand reaching

O Mighty God, we thank you that you have your hand on our president, Donald J. Trump, in this time of crisis with North Korea and the threats of their tyrannical and antagonistic leader. We thank you that you have reached out your hand over our nation to protect America and its territories in this season of crisis.

We know that in prayer, we do not fight flesh and blood, but powers in the spirit realm and principalities that exist there. In this crisis with North Korea, All Mighty God, send your warrior angels to defeat the minions of the evil one making their camp in that isolated and withdrawn land. Let Your divine and perfect will be done in this situation and all glory and honor go to You. In Jesus name, amen.

Psalm 91New American Standard Bible (NASB)

Security of the One Who Trusts in the Lord.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”
For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you.
You will only look on with your eyes
And see the recompense of the wicked.
9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place.
10 No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your tent.

11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12 They will bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you will trample down.

14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation.”

My Super-Duper Devotional ~ but she got something better from it

Light blub

A while back, I’d written a really good inspirational piece. I thought I’m so blessed to have been able to set these words out with the intention of blessing others. And they did, just not in the way I thought.

So, this incredibly nice woman contacted me through social media to let me know what that inspirational piece had meant to her and what a revelation it had been. I read everything she’d put down and went, huh? How did she get that from what I wrote. What she got was powerful, but it had nothing to do with what I’d written. How on earth did she get that?

Well, it wasn’t on earth. As soon as I’d wondered that, I heard the Holy Spirit whispering inside my spirit. “She got it from Me.”

I wondered some more. Had God been trying for some time to get her to see that, and finally I was the vehicle through which He got through to her. PTL

I wondered how many preachers marvel that after spending hours preparing a fantastic sermon, a person in the pews breathlessly shares what a breakthrough they got, but it had nothing, whatsoever, to do with the sermon?

All this shows me that we on earth do not provide the revelation. That comes from heaven. We can be blessed to be the vehicle through which it flows to someone else, but we do not generate the epiphany. That comes from God.

Called To Prayer ~ being a good student, I turned it into study.

Bible, prayerjpg

The Lord has been nudging me for quite a while to pray. It started about three years ago with making a Blessing Jar every January into which I would deposit written prayers during the entire year. The call has become more intense and I’ve been going to my church’s intercessory prayer group.

I felt I was supposed to get a notebook and study the different forms of prayer, which I did. I became very industrious in this endeavor. I looked in the Bible for the first record of prayer…the ‘man calling out to God’ type of prayer.

I found that in Genesis 4:26 [NASB] ~ To Seth, to him also a son was born and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.

Background: Seth is a later son of Adam and Eve, thought to be their third son. In Genesis 4:25 [NASB], Eve said, “God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel, for Cain killed him.” That led me to wonder if Seth, himself, might have been an answer to Eve’s deepest heart’s desire.

So, the earliest record of a human prayer that could fall under worship, supplication, intercessory prayer, petition is in Genesis 4:26 when men began calling out the name of the Lord.

Seeing this led me to want to review in the earlier chapters of Genesis how they called the name of God. Adam talks to God, while Eve talks about God. All this effort in study was not a bad thing, not at all. Still, the Holy Spirit arrested me and I felt Him asking me, “What do you call God?”

I put my Bible down and began to meditate that.
